In January, Ekistics presented the Sydney Waterfront Plan to the steering committee prior to a public showing of the plan to the community and council.

The plan followed a community engagement process which included individual interviews, a community workshop, an online survey, a Facebook Page, and a close working relationship with the multi-sector steering committee.

To demonstrate the community's interest in its downtown waterfront, the online survey had a record 275 respondents. The community specifically noted the need for better waterfront restaurants and commercial spaces, better parks and open spaces, more office space, a signature cultural venue, better destinations for tourists, continuation of the waterfront boardwalk, and connections to other urban parks.

The draft plan has been vetted by the steering committee and will be presented to the community and council sometime in March or early April.
